Intimacy Choreography

I am a certified Intimacy Choreographer, and have studied with Rebecca Johanssen at the Intimacy Professionals Association 2024-2025.

My work as an Intimacy Choreographer spans to all kinds of live performances for example theatre, dance, opera and circus. I am based in Helsinki, Finland, but in the future I will work in other parts of Europe, especially Germany and Iceland.

My working languages are Finnish and English. Työskentelen suomeksi ja englanniksi.

I have an education in Dance, Dance Education (MA) as well as in Performance Art (MFA). I am available for giving workshops in Intimacy Choreography and consent in dance educations, theatre schools as well as intitutions educating dance teachers.

What is Intimacy Choreography?

Intimacy Choreography is needed when there is intimacy, simulated sex or other challenging materials in a performance, art project or a theatre piece. Intimacy Choreographer can help the communication between performers and directors and other artistic roles in the project. Intimacy choreographer especially advocates for the safety for the performers as well as the artistic vision of the director or working group.

When does my project need an Intimacy Choreographer?

It’s important to hire an intimacy choreographer when the performance has simulated sex scenes. If there are other kinds of intimacy, like touch in any form or a difficult topics like drugs, nudity, childbirth, it’s also good to consider to consult or hire an IC.
